Community Projects

7th and 8th grade students complete a community project as outlined by criteria set by the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program. The community project focuses on community and service, encouraging students to explore their right and responsibility to implement service as action in the community. The community project gives students an
opportunity to develop awareness of needs in various communities and address those needs through service learning. Community service for this project does not necessarily mean volunteering time at an organization. It can be direct service but it can also be advocating for or educating about a particular issue. It can also mean designing something that would help or enhance a particular community. The community project may be completed individually or by groups of a maximum of three students.
