Friends of Mayer (FOM) raises money to provide programs and funding that support Mayer’s teachers, students and community. FOM understands the significance of a strong community…it means More Parent Involvement on a daily basis in our classrooms, More Volunteers to help run events like the Walkathon, dances and Fall Fest and More Dollars Raised to support the education of our children. With your help, FOM was able to commit $557,986 to Mayer this year. And for that, we say THANK YOU for your commitment to keeping Mayer great!
FOM raises funds each year to supplement the following school year’s budget. Our goal is to minimize cuts felt directly in our children’s classrooms. These dollars support our three unique educational programs (Montessori, International Baccalaureate and Fine Arts) and any other school-wide initiatives such as, Wellness and Sustainability and Math and Reading Intervention.

Mayer Magnet Benefit:
A parents night out that promises fabulous food, amazing auction items, much merriment and a great time had by all
Miles for Mayer Walkathon:
A full day of fun where Mayer students are encouraged and excited to raise money and walk laps for their school.
Beyond the Classroom:
Fun events for both parents and kids throughout the year (i.e. parent nights out and kids dances)
Activities to teach our children the value of giving back to our greater Chicago community (i.e. Ronald McDonald house and book drive)
Ways to help new and current Mayer families stay connected to their classrooms (i.e. new parent buddy program and Barnes & Noble book fair)

And if you want to meet other new parents or are looking to catch up with parents you already know, we’ve planned a Meet & Mingle for parents to do just that. Join FOM and many fellow Mayer parents at this year’s Meet & Mingle on Thursday, October 13 from 7:00pm-10:00pm at Derby (1224 W. Webster).
Another great way to find out more about FOM and what is going on at Mayer is to attend a monthly FOM Meeting. Our next meeting will be held on Monday, October 17 at 8:30am (directly after drop off) on the 2nd floor of Floriole (1220 W. Webster). Join us for a little bit or stay for the whole meeting.
