Oscar Mayer Magnet School is a magnet school. Any child who is age 5 (on or before September 1) or older and resides within our neighborhood attendance boundaries will be admitted to our school.
All preschool children (including children residing in our attendance boundaries) or students age 5 or older who reside outside the attendance boundaries must apply for admission through go.cps.edu tool.
A computerized lottery is conducted to select students for Mayer’s preschool programs; acceptance is not guaranteed to any students, including those preschoolers who live within the school’s attendance boundary. Applicants are selected for the preschool program in the following order:
- Attendance area siblings
- Non-attendance area siblings
- Attendance area non-siblings
- Non-attendance area non-siblings.
The best way to identify your neighborhood school is to go to the school locator on www.cps.edu
Twin/Multiple Sibling Policy
We have a twin/multiple sibling policy that twins will be placed into separate rooms. Our Montessori program is designed for students to remain in the same class for three year cycles. We have found that it is in the best interest of siblings to be in separate rooms for the social development and independent growth of each child.
