Note from Principal Konieczny – Mayer Students in the News!

Check out our incredible 7th graders sharing their IB community service project. Every 7th and 8th grade student completed a community service project as part of the IB curriculum. The goal is to have an impact on your community. There were so many incredible projects. One group taught an after school course on healthy bodies, happy bodies. ELI students cooked, ate and learned about healthy choices, planned and led by MYP students. Another student did an amazing photo montage challenging stereotypes through the lens of identity. The students have organized a food collection for the hungry, soccer equipment for children, and more.  Today the students featured on CBS2 news were guest speakers at de Diego school. Our students spoke to the 6th-8th grade students about their project. They watched the documentary “For The Love Of Mom” together. They provided a voice and an option to peers of another CPS school. All of our students have shown leadership, dedication and passion.   I am so very proud of each of them.  Please take a moment to watch the news clip in the link below.
