Dear Mayer Parents and Community:
It is hard to believe that I am finishing my 11th year as the leader of Oscar Mayer Magnet School. As I think about how far we have come as a school community I feel extremely proud. In 2006, we were an under enrolled school, on probation with a pre K program slotted to close the next school year. Today we are members of a school community that not only has provided academic excellence for all students, but provides unique opportunities for children that many CPS children are not able to experience. I have learned so much in my time here, and Mayer has had a lifelong imprint on my heart. It is with very mixed emotions that I announce that I will be leaving Oscar Mayer by September. I have accepted a job as the next President of Divine Savior Holy Angels, my high school alma mater. You may know that I am originally from Milwaukee, WI. This job provides an opportunity to move closer to my family, and lead a school that provided so much to me personally.
I assure you that I am committed to making this transition as smooth as possible. Although I will be leaving by September, my children will be attending Mayer next school year, so I will be around. I will be working with the current school leadership, the local school council and the Network Chief to ensure that the school is in great hands while the LSC starts a formal search. I will be working for several weeks this summer to get our budget balanced/approved, hire our needed faculty, and prepare for a wonderful 2017 – 2018 school year. I care deeply for the Mayer community. I am grateful for my time here, and will cherish the relationships that I have built. Thank you all for your commitment to our students. Mayer is the home to the top educators in the city, with fierce commitment to your children. We have a community that is willing to do what it takes to support the work. I am humbled to have had the opportunity to lead this school.
