Communication Committee

Requirements from LSC Bylaws Article VII. 2.

Scope. Precise tasks to be performed by Committee:

  1. Improve communications between the administration, parents, and various school boards
  2. Updating and monitoring the website assuring parents are able to receive quality information about Mayer
  3. Streamline email messages that are sent to the school community
  4. Assess communication process and make changes as needed

Duration. The Communication Committee will last no more than 2 years.

c. Recommendations LSC seeks from the Committee.

  1. New and improved website
  2. Feedback on communication channels and how various parties are able to communicate their information and receive feedback on concerns of the community.

d. Written Product of Study LSC seeks from the Committee.

  1. New and update website that remains current and changes with the needs of the school.

Budget/Finance Committee

Requirements from LSC Bylaws Article VII. 2.

Scope.  Precise tasks to be performed by Committee:

  1. Use Mayer’s CIWP as basis for budget planning
  2. Monitor Mayer spending through review of monthly spending reports compared to budget
  3. Review, approve, and monitor Mayer’s internal accounts (accounts for cash from students, parents, and community from student fees, donations, etc.)
  4. Review monthly Mayer’s internal accounts report and bank statement activity
  5. Request and review an audit of Mayer’s internal accounts (note: we would probably prefer this to be done at the school level by a parent or community member, however we are entitled to use CPS Audit Services)

Duration.  The Budget/Finance Committee is a standing committee of the LSC.

c.  Recommendations LSC seeks from the Committee.

  1.  Approve or reject the Mayer annual budget as proposed
  2. Approve or reject individual expenditure as presented from time to time

d.  Written Product of Study LSC seeks from the Committee.

Copies of all budgets produced by Mayer administration
Copies of any monthly, quarterly, or annual statements or reconciliations produced by Mayer administration

Documents/Information required by Committee to accomplish a-d above:

Current CIWP

  • Total School Budget and code list
  • Position Report
  • Budget Inquiry Reports
  • Detail of Rollover funds
  • Internal Accounts trial balance summary and monthly bank reconciliations

CIWP Committee

Section 2. Roles and Tasks Clearly Defined. When forming a committee, the LSC shall specify, in writing, the following: (a) the scope of the committee, meaning defining its precise tasks, (b) the duration of the committee, (c) any recommendation the LSC seeks from the committee, and (d) any written product or study the LSC seeks from the committee.

Article VII – Committees

Section 2. Roles and Tasks Clearly Defined.

a) Scope – The scope of the committee, meaning its precise tasks. The CIWP will perform three primary duties:

  1. Lead the development of the CIWP in compliance with CPS standards and Illinois law
  2. Monitor the implementation of the CIWP
  3. Report twice a year on the progress of the CIWP implementation

Precise tasks to be performed by the CIWP are as follows:

  1. Develop the CIWP team, including principal, parents, and teachers.
  2. Set SY2013 and SY2014 Goals for a scorecard and state metrics.
  3. Update Mayer’s self-evaluation within the School Effectiveness Framework using any available scorecard, performance, and/or survey data.
  4. Revisit the school’s Mission Statement and update as necessary.
  5. Determine 3 to 5 Strategic Priorities on which the school will focus. If applicable, revisit the school’s key levers in the Theory of Action to identify priority areas
  6. Complete an Action Plan for each strategic priority.
  7. Complete any required “Related Plans”.
  8. Obtain LSC and Network approval of the Budget and CIWP, as necessary.

b) Duration– The CIWP is a standing committee as the school will continuously strive to improve its performance. The CIWP duration is indefinite.

c) Recommendation– The LSC seeks recommendations from the Committee on two items:

  1. Recommend a new CIWP every two years
  2. Recommend changes and adjustments to the CIWP once a year

d) Written Product – Any written product or study the LSC seeks from the committee.

  1. A new CIWP document every two years
  2. Recommended changes and adjustments to the CIWP once a year
  3. Report to the LSC and public on progress of the CIWP implementation twice a year
