Admissions

Oscar Mayer Magnet School is a magnet cluster school. Any child who is age 5 or older and resides within our neighborhood attendance boundaries will be admitted to our school, beginning in the kindergarten through 8th grade.

Preschool children or students age 5 or older who reside outside the attendance boundaries must apply for admission through the Options for Knowledge program.  The applications are available in the fall and are due to CPS in early December prior to the fall you wish for your child to begin.  More information can be found at www.cps.edu – Office of Access and Enrollment.

Mayer has a preschool program for 3-year-old and 4-year-old children in the Montessori Early Childhood program. All students interested in the preschool program must submit a Standard Application through the Options for Knowledge program, including students who live within the school’s attendance boundary.  A computerized lottery is conducted to select students for Mayer’s preschool programs; acceptance is not guaranteed to any students, including those who live within the school’s attendance boundary. Applicants are selected for the preschool program in the following order:

  1. Attendance area siblings
  2. Non-attendance area siblings
  3. Attendance area non-siblings
  4. Non-attendance area non-siblings.

The applications are available in the fall and are due to CPS in early December prior to the fall you wish for your child to begin.  More information can be found at www.cps.edu – Office of Access and Enrollment.  Contact the Office of Access and Enrollment at (773) 553-2060 or oae@cps.edu for more information.

To determine if you are in Mayer’s attendance boundaries, use CPS’s school locator.
