Oscar Mayer Magnet School is a magnet cluster school. Any child who is age 5 or older and resides within our neighborhood attendance boundaries will be admitted to our school, beginning in the kindergarten grade in one of our Montessori Early Childhood classrooms. Preschool children or students age 5 or older who reside outside the attendance boundaries must apply for admission through the Options for Knowledge program.
Mayer has a preschool program for 3-year-old and 4-year-old children in the Montessori Early Childhood classrooms. All students interested in the preschool program must submit a Standard Application, including students who live within the school’s attendance boundary. A computerized lottery is conducted to select students for Mayer’s preschool programs; acceptance is not guaranteed to any students, including those who live within the school’s attendance boundary. Applicants are selected for the preschool program in the following order:
- Attendance area siblings
- Non-attendance area siblings
- Attendance area non-siblings
- Non-attendance area non-siblings.
The current policy governing this procedure is under review and is subject to revision prior to the selection process for the 2014-2015 school year. Contact the Office of Access and Enrollment at (773) 553-2060 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
To determine if you are in Mayer’s attendance boundaries, use CPS’s school locator.
